Household Vulnerability and Negative Coping Mechanisms

Families are being pushed to the edge. In 2024, 84% of households had to borrow money or buy food on credit just to get by a sharp increase from the year before. One in four families had to take their children out of school due to costs. To survive, families are cutting spending on healthcare, pulling children into work, and going into debt. These are not choices, they are desperate measures that put children’s safety, health, and future at risk.
